This position is responsible for the overall quality and food safety for the plants and facilities within the Flavors region being supported. This is accomplished through providing leadership and direction both within the facility and being a strong and collaborative partner cross functionally. This position will have responsibility to lead food safety and quality progress as well as develop a vision for long-term strategy to ensure continued success. This position reports to the global Director Quality and Food Safety, Flavors.Essential Job Functions:
  • Functionally manage the local Site QFS managers. Perform leadership functions with people management -define goals and development plan, quarterly reviews, honest feedback, and mentorship. Primary sites supported: Beijing, Pinghu, Tianjin, Australia JV. Support and guidance for regional contract manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics quality and foods safety needs and programs.
  • Plan, coordinate and direct facility quality assurance, food safety and quality control programs designed to ensure production of safe, high-quality products consistent with ADM standards, customer expectations, as well as regional law(s) requirement that align and support ADM's Quality Management System
  • Serve as an SME resource in developing and maintaining appropriate quality and food safety programs / processes and regulatory compliance correspond with customers and vendors in relation to non-conformity questions or products on escalated issues or key customer accounts
  • Coordinates with commercial, sales, production, and regulatory to manage customer expectations. This position has a focus on continuous improvement of the quality processes in order to be a differentiating factor for our customers and shareholders in the areas of food safety, quality and consistency of our products.
  • Support CD&D, various development teams, and production personnel to partner with the commercialization of developing products as related to product safety, determine and communicate manufacturing capabilities, assist with validation or verification of production processes, and support the development of customer facing product statements, guarantees, and questionnaires as related to developing products
  • Function and lead in such a way to drive and foster a positive and supportive food safety and quality centered culture within the quality team and all supportive teams.
  • Collaborate with Quality personnel, Plant Leaders and Global Operations CoEs to achieve both short-term and long-term performance goals.
  • Ensure proper development, tracking, and communication of KPI's, COE and site Goals, other specific objectives
  • Support Readiness, PE and execute both short-term and long-term priorities with a sense of urgency through decision making, delegating and collaboration.
  • Provide technical support to flavor locations within region and network with other regional colleagues
  • Provide escalation support for various quality or food safety day-to-day activities that are high risk or have priority or urgency
  • Responsible for Internal Risk Management (IRM) program
  • Participate on Food Safety teams for each supported site and Food Defense program reviews
  • Review/approve all audit findings and CAPA's for customer and regulatory audits and visits.
  • Ensure facility Food Safety and ISO certifications are achieved and any findings are addresses
  • Advocate that sites are adequately staffed for healthy 'right-sized” staff levels to support business volume and sales growth
  • Promote and support global projects, such as 1ADM
  • Own or Mentor local wave improvement projects as part of continual improvement process
  • Mentor and develop career path progression for high performing direct reports
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Food science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in quality and food safety people and program management;
  • Previous management experience
  • Strong focus and understanding of food safety
  • Working knowledge and experience with HACCP, GFSI, ISO, regional food safety and regulatory compliance
  • Familiarization with Phys-chem laboratory equipment (GC/GCMS, HPLC, etc.)
  • Familiarization with microbiological knowledge specific to the food and beverage industry
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Confirmed ability to utilize independent discernment when problem solving or other instances
  • Capable of succeeding within a cross-functional team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and positively influence outcomes
