Location: Shanghai or Guangzhou regionEmployment Type: Full-TimeAbout the RoleAs we expand our product portfolio, we're looking for a China Sourcing & Product Development Specialist to be our full-time presence on the ground. This isn't just a QC or sourcing role — the hardest part of this job is understanding what we're building and why, and making good judgment calls in the field without someone looking over your shoulder. You'll own the full supplier relationship lifecycle — identifying and developing factory partners, sourcing components, and ensuring every product that leaves China meets our standards. But none of that works without deeply understanding our products and representing our vision on the ground.Key Responsibilities * New Factory Development
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new manufacturing partners across China
  • Conduct capability assessments and negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, and contract terms
  • Maintain and grow a vetted supplier network across relevant manufacturing hubs
  • Sourcing & Production Management
  • Own tech pack compliance — ensure factories understand specs fully and have no excuse not to follow them
  • Put processes in place to enforce and verify compliance at every stage of production
  • Source materials and components for new product lines as required
  • Quality Control & Auditing
  • Conduct regular on-site factory visits to inspect quality at pre-production, in-line, and final milestones
  • Develop and enforce audit protocols — and be on the ground to make sure they're being followed
  • Own corrective actions when standards aren't met and maintain a QC scorecard across the supplier base
  • Product Vision Translation
  • Deeply understand why we're building each product — not just what the spec says
  • Communicate our product goals clearly to factory partners so they understand what we're trying to achieve, not just what we've written down
  • Make good judgment calls on the ground without needing to loop in Canada for every decision
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in soft goods manufacturing and sourcing in China
  • Deep, active network of vetted soft goods factories — you can pick up the phone and get things done
  • Expert-level understanding of flat knit and circular knit construction — you can evaluate factory capability and diagnose production issues on the floor
  • Proven ability to read and translate complex tech packs into factory processes
  • Strong written and spoken English — you communicate clearly and proactively with a remote Canadian HQ team
  • Willing and able to travel extensively across China for factory visits and audits
  • You understand our product vision well enough to make good judgement calls on your own.
