The Bits to Experience Product Test Engineering Team team at Meta focuses on inventing new metrology and characterization methods for AR displays to move the state-of-art display and optical technologies forward for AR products, which gives people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Our team is looking for an experienced and driven Optical Metrology Engineer who will work with cross functional teams to define the requirements, lead the development, qualification and implementation of optical metrology equipment for characterizing optical modules and systems in AR products.Optical Test Engineer ResponsibilitiesDefine, design and develop optical metrology solutions including hardware engineering, test software implementation, and instrument qualificationDevelop benchtop and production instrumentation to characterize complex optical modules and integrated systems (display and optics)Collect and perform statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metricsExplore novel optical metrology technologies and work with suppliers on prototype developmentLead full cycle of tester development against engineering requirement specifications. Take complete ownership of transferring metrology technologies from R&D to mass productionEstablish and perform tester alignment and calibration procedures and ensure testers are performing as intended and providing accurate dataWork with engineering design team(s) to clarify/refine performance metric definition for test solution implementationUp to 50% domestic and international travel requiredMinimum QualificationsBS degree in Optical Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline with 2+ years of experience or Advanced Degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical disciplineHands-on experience in optical metrology development from concept to system validationIn-depth knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology and characterizationExperience in test automation (instrument control, data collection and analysis) using LabView, Matlab or PythonProficiency in statistical data analysis using Minitab or JMPProfessional level proficiency in EnglishGood communication and presentation skillsPreferred QualificationsPrevious experience in the AR/VR fieldFamiliarity with display quality metricsFamiliarity with color scienceIn-depth knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Measurement System AnalysisExperience in image processing and algorithm developmentExperience in Zemax, Code V, LightTools, FRED or other optical design/simulation toolsExperience in ATE Equipment programming (e.g. Teradyne, Advantest)About MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
