At Meta Reality Labs, we are developing the future of Wearables and Mixed Reality products and this team focuses on developing display and optics technologies for Meta products. Their mission is to create display systems that seamlessly blend the real and virtual realms. This involves designing the architecture and all display sub-systems for AR glasses based on leading technologies developed by Meta's teams. We work on creating advanced display technologies that are essential for augmented reality and virtual reality systems while having sub-teams who connect bits, electrons, photons, and experience for display products across wearables and the metaverse while focusing on display silicon architecture, applied perception studies, image quality, and defining the roadmap and long-term platform development strategy. Within display and optics team, we also aim to develop and implement test, characterization, metrology, and data solutions to support the creation of transparent display systems. As a Metrology Engineer, you will be responsible for developing custom advanced e-beam microscopy based metrology solutions and implementing precise, robust, high-throughput, accurate metrology and characterization solutions for characterization, performance evaluations of materials, processes, and complex optical display devices.Metrology Engineer ResponsibilitiesDevelop recipes, Best Known Methods (BKM), and enablement for automated CLM (Cut Look Measure), SEM and STEM metrology for different applicationsWork with tech leads, peer engineers to plan and perform measurements for the characterization, metrology of different materials (semiconductors, metals, organic and inorganic) and devices, and can suggest follow-up studies for advanced characterization, failure analysis and reliability issuesAnalyzing and summarizing characterization, metrology data and communicating these results to internal and external partnersManaging services with external partners or onboarding new partners to expand capabilitiesOwner of metrology equipment e.g. FIB+SEM, STEM, EDX etc., managing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting. Working with equipment vendors to coordinate tool repairs and upgrades as neededDevelop, build documentation and improve standard operating procedures for measurements and analysis methods needed to extract key metrics, data quality, tool health and data insightsTraining and mentoring technicians, managing tool operation for routine measurementsPartner with process-engineering, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Integration owners to improve process yields and understand device performanceRobust structured problem-solving skills and Root Cause AnalysisIdentify equipment issues and cross-functional work with internal and external partners and vendors to assure optimal tool-fleet performanceManage external partnership with vendors and instrument manufacturers to define metrology samplings plans from research, development to productionDrive method transfers to internal and external partners to support technology research, exploration and developmentMinimum QualificationsMaster's degree in Physics, Material Science, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience2+ years experience in working with semiconductor, inorganic, organic materials and devicesExperience operating and recipe development on SEM, CLM or TEMExperience using and interpreting advanced material characterization techniques like TEM, EDX, EELS, AFM, SIMS and XRD for assessing material qualityExperience with data analysis software e.g. Origin or JMPPreferred Qualifications4+ years experience working with semiconductor, inorganic, organic materials and devices using advanced e-beam microscopy techniquesExperience working directly on the tools and handling real wafers, samples in a clean room and wafer-FAB processing is preferredDemonstrate expertise and depth in the areas of Electron Microscopy, review related characterization and metrology techniquesExperience enabling and owning metrology applications, equipment supporting technology development and manufacturing environmentsExperience in using and interpreting advanced materials characterization techniques such as SEM, HR-STEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, Auger, EELS, SIMSExperience using scripting languages e.g. Python, MATLAB, JMPProject planning and problem-solving techniques such as 8DKnowledge of processes including deposition, etch, lithography, metrology, cleansExperience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environmentAbout MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world. Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology. People who choose to build their careers by building with us at Meta help shape a future that will take us beyond what digital connection makes possible today-beyond the constraints of screens, the limits of distance, and even the rules of physics.Equal Employment OpportunityMeta is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
