- Code & Standards Strategy Foresight & Agenda Shaping
- Lead development and execution of the code strategy roadmap; proactively identify 3–5-year regulatory trends in lifts and translate them into actionable business and technology paths.
- Lead strategic positioning in next-generation frameworks (intrinsic safety, cyber, AI, green, circular economy); drive white papers, proposals, and draft standards to help shape the industry agenda.
- Industry Influence & Ecosystem Leadership
- Be qualified for leadership roles on National Elevator Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC 196) and China Elevator Association Standards Committee (CEA Standards Committee); lead industry code and standards technical development.
- Align China’s codes and standards with ISO/EN; bridge SAC/TC 196, CEN/TC 10, and ISO/TC 178, positioning the company as an active global-local rule integrator.
- Enhance the company’s public reputation through keynote speeches, technical forums, and engagement with regulators.
- Internal Leadership & Cross-Functional Integration
- Chair daily operations of the Code Strategy Committee, ensuring early alignment among R&D, Product, Legal, and other functions, swift impact assessment, and unified company positions.
- Promote a culture of “smart regulation driving innovation”: turn compliance into a differentiated competitive edge and align product roadmaps with regulatory roadmaps.
- Build a pipeline of code and standards talent; define competency models and career paths; boost organizational agility via practice communities.
- Code & Standards Development & Advocacy
- Lead company participation in national and local regulations, safety technical codes, national standards, and other key lift-related standards projects.
- Advocate innovation-friendly regulatory frameworks to accelerate market uptake of digital technology, IoT, AI-assisted safety solutions, and modernization offerings.
- Global-Local Linkage Management
- Implement global code and standards strategy; provide timely communication with WHO on China-specific requirements; and embed China needs into global product architecture decisions.
- Collaborate closely with international bodies such as ELA, CEN/TC 10, and ISO/TC 178 via CEA and SAC/TC 196, ensuring China’s code evolution benefits from and contributes to global standardization.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in mechanical, electrical, automation, or related field; MBA or advanced engineering management degree preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the elevator industry, including at least 5 years in product compliance, regulatory affairs, or R&D strategy management.
- Experience holding key roles in national technical committees or industry associations and leading the drafting of national standards; prior experience in ISO/CEN collaboration preferred.
- Strong knowledge of elevator and escalator product technology and compliance requirements across the full product lifecycle (from new product creation to product retirement).
- Strategic business acumen: ability to assess the impact of codes and standards across cost, speed, brand equity, and global platforms.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and influencing skills; able to engage effectively with regulators, technical experts, and senior executives.
- Excellent bilingual proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese; capable of delivering high-level bilingual presentations and conducting technical negotiations.
- Visionary strategic thinker who can transform vague policy signals into clear business strategies.
- Collaborative leader who can motivate cross-functional teams without direct authority.
